The Skatalites are the most important Ska band, period. They've been a group with a rotating line-up of the finest musicians in the Ska world since the early 1960's. That's over 40 years! They backed every major Ska artist in Jamaica, including Bob Marley and The Wailers, Jackie Opel, Ken Boothe, and every Studio 1 artist of the time. Members of the Skatalites over the years have included Jackie Mittoo, Tommy McCook, Roland Alphonso, Lloyd Knibb, Lloyd Brevett, Don Drummond, Ernest Ranglin, Baba Brooks, Lester Sterling, and many many more huge names! They're still playing shows all over the world, and are as tight as ever.
