Predator and his rigorously trained Dub Assasins
nail Jamaican-style Ska, Early Reggae, Rub-A-Dub, and Roots Reggae while holding
true to their Jersey roots. And why wouldn't they? The list of musicians who
play on these tunes reads like a who's who of NY/NJ Ska and Reggae. This
album full of awesome original music features current and ex-members
of bands like Inspecter 7, Mephiskapheles, The Toasters, Hub City Stompers,
Bomb Town, Steadfast United, Foil, and more. Predator has his own fresh style,
mixing old and new sounds. His voice often sounds like it could come from a
member of the Marley family, somewhere between Bob and Damian "Jr. Gong."
He can also come at you in a Singjay-Deejay style reminiscent of Rocker T or
Eek-A-Mouse. One of the or even Early-style
Reggae tunes in this set even brings to mind daddy U-Roy. I could compare
P-Dub's sound to plenty of artists that you may or may not know, but I'd rather
let the CD do the talking.
