Jackie Mittoo
Hot Blood LP (Jamaican Import)

Jackie Mittoo is a name synonymous with brilliant Jamaican music. He was a true piano prodigy, and is often cited as being one of the first musicians to change music from Rocksteady into the new Reggae style. He rose to prominence as piano player for The Skatalites, and stuck around the Studio 1 studio for the rest of the 60's as the leader of the Soul Vendors. This rare record, however, is from his later body of work in the late 1970's at the Channel 1 studio. The vibe is very dubby and laid back, but the drum and bass attack ferociously and the keys are from another planet. Dig this record.
