Welcome to Stubborn Records
As the lovely
summer weather begins to cool down we are stoking the fires of the Stubborn
Oven to have plenty of crisp biscuits ready as
Autumn slowly creeps in.
Just released in Jamaica (so new, we don't have any yet):
a new Prince Alla Version City 45 (I and I Know) on the Gangsta Drop riddim,
as well as a new Ethiopian Kings version on the Freedom Sounds Label-- "Hydrokilla"
by Sizzler Ponderosa and Emerald Nutz. If you haven't checked out the first
batch of Version City 45s, you're definitely missing out on hot versions from
the likes of Johnny Osbourne, King Django, Pampidoo, Rocker T, Little John,
Nigger Kojak and Roaring Lion. Django's now back in the studio mixing up a fresh
batch of these as well as preparing some special Stubborn Boomshots for CD release
in the very near future!
The whole crew over here is still really interested in getting
to know you better, so please do drop by the new Stubborn
Records Forums at http://www.stubbornrecords.com/forums
and join in on the discussions, get the latest news and all that good stuff! If you still haven't checked it out yet, do have a listen to our STUBBORN RECORDS JUKEBOX! at jukebox.stubbornrecords.com You can check out a bunch of our own fine Stubborn Records releases there right now. We'll be adding more in the coming weeks, as well as sample tracks from our friends' indie bands and labels. Also keep an eye out for exclusive previews of new unrleased tracks! Remember, we are a REAL underground, independent, DIY label/store, and we can't exist without your ongoing friendship and blessings! As always, we pledge to continually search far and wide to bring you the best in authentic classic ska, rocksteady, early ("skinhead") reggae, roots, dub and dancehall. We're also striving to lend our support to the new generation of bands and musicians playing all of the different styles of music inspired by the original masters of Jamaica! Always feel free to drop us a line any time with your comments, suggestions or wish lists and we will do our best to accomodate you! We're also currently looking to assemble street teams to hand out flyers and promotional items at shows and festivals. If you're interested, please get in touch! VERSION CITY PARTIES In 2007 we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Version City Studio and this year will mark the 10th anniversary of the Version City party!
