A long-standing staple of the Southern Californa traditional ska scene, The Israelites' last album “Roots” was an instant hit worldwide – scorching 60’s Jazz-Ska in the vein of The Skatalites, Toots & The Maytals & Desmond Dekker. As with their previous efforts, the band’s spiritual message harks back to the earliest Jamaican ska sides – as we all know early reggae/ska had a positve gospel message. “JAMAICAN CELEBRATION”is something old AND something new: it is the re-mastered re-release of “WASHAWAY” (their out of print first album from 1993) combined with 6 brand new songs (produced by skinhead reggae producer J Bonner of DUB STREET ROCKERS/VESSELS) plus a cover of Desmond Dekker’s “Honour Your Mother And Father” – a fan favorite!
